Regarding Jason and Lindsay:

Using real life situations, ones that are personal, impacting and attention getting, to touch the lives of our youth is always a challenge in our ministries. Often we use stories or events that are less than ideal, because we so badly want to impact their hearts. When one of those events comes along, that is so clearly being moved by the loving hand of a sovereign God, one that has from the beginning been captivating, moving, close to home and above all God honoring, we need to make the most of the opportunity. Not to be sensationalists, but to obey God’s direction to make the most of the opportunities He presents us, for the days are clearly evil.

By now, you, and your students who enjoyed our ministry at Rock-N-Water, and even their peers, have heard about what happened to the members of our staff, Jason Allen and Lindsay Cutshall. This outstanding young couple dedicated their lives to serving Christ and we at Rock-N-Water were privileged to have them serve with us this summer. We see clearly now that God is honoring Rock-N-Water, our staff, youth pastors and campers with the responsibility of using their testimonies for great ministry. We are excited that your youth might not only grow in themselves, but also reach others for Christ because of the life and death of Jason and Lindsay.

How you might accomplish this:

  • One of our most pressing concerns is that each of your students is ready to face eternity. Should their lives be so swiftly taken, would they be ready to meet God?
  • We would also like to challenge everyone to live each day in a way that is pleasing and honoring to our Savior. To enjoy life as though it might be the last day lived.

A theme passage for us here at Rock-N-Water during this time has been:

II Corinthians 5:9 "So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it."

You may be able to use the text in your message to your students.

  • We would also like to use the desire that Jason and Lindsay had to serve God with their lives, as an example of the greatest pursuit that anyone can undertake. Many of you and your students were touched by lives so given. Would your students be willing to follow such an example, and give their lives for His service? Many of their friends have also heard, can they use this story and their relationship with Rock-N-Water to witness for Christ?
  • Finally, your students may want to express their thoughts and feelings with the staff here or with Jason and Lindsay’s parents, or both. Please feel free to do so. Anything you would like to share with their parents, please send to us and we will see that it is passed on.

Through all of this we rest in this:

"Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways…For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen." Romans 11:33,36.
